Calling on Volunteers
ATA-Houston will be hosting the Annual Houston Turkish Festival at the Jones Plaza on Saturday and Sunday, April 4-5, 2010. The festival is a huge undertaking that depends not only on funding, but significant man and woman-power, collaboration, and teamwork. There is no doubt that the success of this event lies in the active participation of dedicated volunteers.
Everyone can become a volunteer. Don’t forget that your high school child can earn school credits by volunteering.
There are a variety of tasks needed for the festival. Please look at the different categories listed below and let us know where your talents best fit:
[FestVolunteer #1] Set-up and tear-down
On Friday November 16th, we will need all the muscle help as well as decorating help to get the venue ready. We will also need some muscle help to tear-down the venue and transport materials to storage.
[FestVolunteer #2] Festival Tickets
We will need help at two locations:
1. Entrance location where tickets will be sold and festival packs given away.
2. We also have two food and drink ticket booths that need to be manned.
[FestVolunteer #3] Food Court
We will be operating a pastry as well as a coffee and tea booth. Similar to our picnics, we need help setting up, serving and cleanup.
We will also be operating a DRINKS booth serving soft drinks, beer and wine.
[FestVolunteer #4] CHILDREN’s Venue
We will have a secured and dedicated children’s area. Volunteers with talent for kids are needed. We will be hiring professional clowns, magicians, etc… but our volunteers would be there to provide assistance and keeping an eye on the kids.
[FestVolunteer #5] BAZAAR
We will also be operating a bazaar booth. Sales, sales, sales.
Help us setup, man the booth and cleanup after.
[FestVolunteer #6] ROAMING
We have a number of other activities that we need help with. Here is a short list:
-Popcorn Station -Ice Cream Station
-Stage Assistance -Member VIP Booth
-First Aid Booth -General Plaza Help
We want the Turkish Festival to be an unforgettable experience for our community. Volunteers are a key ingredient to our success. Without your help, the festival will not be successful.
We would greatly appreciate it if you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your top three categories in which you would like to volunteer.
